Vietnam\u2019s aquaculture industry continued its growth momentum in the first eight months of 2026, with aquaculture production reaching <\/span><\/i>4.25 million tonnes<\/i><\/b> and aquaculture exports totaling<\/span><\/i> USD 7.94 billion<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Aquaculture activities continue to drive growth in Vietnam’s fisheries sector.<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

With diverse aquaculture potential and favorable natural conditions, Vietnam is increasingly leveraging aquaculture to expand production and strengthen its seafood supply capacity. In the first eight months of 2026, total seafood production was estimated at <\/span>6.95 million tonnes<\/b>, up 3.8% year on year. Of this, aquaculture production reached <\/span>4.25 million tonnes<\/b>, up 6.0%, significantly outpacing the 0.7% growth recorded in capture fisheries. The stronger growth in aquaculture continues to strengthen the supply of raw materials for seafood processing and consumption. <\/span>(Source: NSO)<\/span><\/p>\n

Notably, shrimp production reached <\/span>1.10 million tonnes<\/b>, up 7.9%, maintaining a strong growth rate within Vietnam\u2019s seafood production structure. As production capacity expands, maintaining product quality, improving efficiency and meeting evolving market requirements will be key to strengthening the industry\u2019s export performance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Exports maintain strong momentum, while growth varies across major markets<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Alongside continued growth in domestic production, Vietnam\u2019s seafood exports maintained positive momentum in the first eight months of 2026. Export value reached approximately <\/span>USD 8.00 billion<\/b>, up 11.8% year on year, highlighting continued international demand as an important driver for the industry. Growth is increasingly <\/span>shifting toward Asian markets<\/b>, led by China\u2013Hong Kong and ASEAN, while <\/span>the US and EU markets have shown signs of slowing<\/b>. <\/span>(Source: VASEP)<\/span><\/p>\n
